I am a senior AHP (Physio) who has worked for acute hospitals trusts, for healthcare charities, for NHS England and Public Health England. I am now in a relatively senior leadership position working within the North East London region.
Nationally the allied health professions do not include people from a BAME background in acceptable numbers and this needs to change so we better represent the populations we serve whilst benefiting from all the enhancements a diverse workforce creates.
We need to be more proactive in reaching out to potential BAME colleagues, we need to support BAME youths to view the allied health professions as feasible careers and we need to recognise and acknowledge the inherent white privilege that accompanies the opportunites many of us exploit.
As such I would be able to offer an informed discussion about career progression within the AHPs, interview coaching for AHP roles and some general carrers advice if required. All completed remotely of course.
