Trained as a digital systems engineer before studying medicine and then surgery. NHS consultant general surgeon for 20 years (now part time). Have applied systems engineering theory/techniques/tools in health care improvement for more than 15 years and proved that it can dissolve "wicked" problems. Co-founder and editor of the Journal of Improvement Science which is a free open-access e-journal for sharing improvement case studies. Experienced trainer, facilitator and coach.
